My Childhood Memories

Everyone has their own memories deep down in their heart that they may not share or share only with the close one. Since I understand language, my relatives and parents told me that when I was born I was dislike by many people because I have dark skin and also skinny. So, the jewellery or presents that I received were lesser than my other siblings as my brothers and sister they were born with fair skin and chubby face. But I believed that it doesn’t really affect how I grow up.

Even though I was born with a negative statement, but my family members especially my parents did not show dislike on me, they treated me as the same with other siblings. My family and I stayed in a low-cost flat near by Jinjang during my early years, and my mother took care of us. She always brought us to a friend house and we used to play together like cooking play or play with toys.I was very 'tomboy' style in the sense of always in short hair, very brave, always play with boys during my early years. I went to kindergarten at the age of 5 and I performed quite well in the school but my memories about my kindergarten teachers is not clear as I think that they don't show much love on me. On the other hand, I have a sister who is just one year older than me, always has her own point of view and stubborn character. I don’t argue with her and like to follow what she did. There was once at the age of 4, my sister said to me: “We grown up already, so we should not have pacifier, let’s throw away our pacifiers.” I listened to her and we thrown the pacifiers down from our flat level. But at night, I cried badly until my mother have to buy me a new pacifier.

Until my age of 6, we moved to a double storey house, where there was a lot of space for me to 'explore’ and my parents also didn’t stop me from any play. I liked to role play as ‘seller’ and ‘sell’ all sort of things. I even set up different ‘houses’ or environment settings for my play. My sister also liked to play cooking, so my parents bought us some simple cooking set and we used to play with our niece. That time, my mother helped to take care of my niece, so beside my sister, my niece was my play partner. There was also once during my parents anniversary, my sister suggested to prepare a ‘dinner’ for them using the cooking set we had. As usual, I followed and happily prepared ‘dinner’ for my parents.  Out of my expectation, my parents also ‘ate’ happily and paid us for our service! My sister and I shouted extremely. We kept that money to buy another new cooking set during Christmas. That was my happiest time ever.

Talk about Christmas, during early years, we believed that there is Santa Claus, my lovely daddy will ask us to sleep early and the next day, we will have presents on our bed. Even it was just stickers, we were all so happy to stick it on our sticker book. There was once I fought with my younger brother about the stickers. We fought badly until my father got angry and he torn our sticker books. We were so upset and cried the whole night. But something that really touched me was, the next day, my father bought us new sticker books and stickers. Since that day, I never fight for stickers with my brother.

Overall, I’ve been brought up in a loving and happy environment. Even I don't remember much for my early years learning in school, I am thankful to have play time with my siblings during my early years development which I believed that I had benefited from it.
