Laskar Pelangi

Laskar Pelangi

First, I would like to thanks Ms. Hidayah for introducing this movie to me.

Even though I can't understand most of the conversation, but I have received the message that
inspired me.

This story takes place in a village whereby no one actually think that education is important for children. One of the uncle, who became the principal and her daughter, the teacher who tried to fulfil the right of every child to be educated. They used a house serve as the school, even it's tattered, with the help of residents, children are still able to study inside.

Through this story I see that children with different age group, skin type, gender, insignificance they  come together to play and learn. They can use the coconut tree leaves to be the slide, slide down from a small sand hill, they even use the leaves and fruits to be costume and decorations for their dancing. Teacher brings the students go around the village to observe and learn about the nature, and how they engaged and attracted by the rainbow. So then I see that the nature can be a good teaching environment which provides us with different types of materials for learning and teaching.

Besides that, the principal shows his perseverance in continuing to operate the school even not many students and people to support. One of the sentence he said that I can understand and remember is "don't just accept a lot but to give a lot." and he is showing this through his action too.
His perseverance and good modelling also made his daughter to determine to be a good teacher. With their passion on educating students, no matter what limitations, obstacles and challenges they have to face, they bring the students to go through.

The part that really touch me is how one of the students influence his friends to go back to school and he acts as the teacher to teach and share what he learned. This part has made me reflected that, the best teacher does not only produce students with the best performance in academic but a heart of lifelong learning.

After this movie, I hope that students can realise the importance of learning, principals and teachers can have the passion in educating and last but not least, parents who support lifelong learning instead of academic learning.
